SJA Hosts Summer Reunions

Each summer, graduates of St. Joseph's Academy reunite to celebrate milestone reunions. This summer, the classes of 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, and 1999 celebrated with events held at the Academy and around Baton Rouge. The reunions were planned by committees from each class. With many of the gatherings, graduates enjoyed the company of their classmates for Girls’ Night Out events. On Saturday, many classes returned to the SJA campus to celebrate mass in the chapel, tour the school or picnic with their families. Saturday evening events were typically held in conjunction with the reuniting classes of Catholic High School. The classes of 1960, 1970, 1980, 1985, 1990, and 2000 will celebrate their reunions in the summer of 2010. To volunteer on a reunion planning committee, please contact the Alumnae Coordinator.
Call for Outstanding Alumnae Nominations
Do you know an SJA alumna who serves as a pillar of her community and lives as an example of sanctity, joy and action for others? The Alumnae Association is currently seeking Outstanding Alumnae nominations.
Each year, the Alumnae Association bestows Outstanding Alumnae awards upon SJA alumnae who, in day-to-day living, exemplify integrity, moral character, love of God and service to humanity. The purpose of this award is to establish role models for the graduates of the future and to honor graduates of the past. All SJA-Baton Rouge alumnae who have been out of high school for at least 10 years are eligible for nomination. Honorees will be recognized at a luncheon in April 2010.
Nominations may be submitted via the online form on the SJA website by December 31, 2009. Nominate a Distinguished Graduate
The Distinguished Graduate Award affords all Catholic schools the opportunity to honor their graduates and to honor themselves through their graduates. Awards are presented by the Diocese of Baton Rouge during Catholic Schools Week. Please consider nominating a fellow classmate or SJA alumna who exemplifies the standards set by the awarding committee.
Nominees must have graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy to be considered. These honorees should be role models for our students and have made some significant contribution to the Church and/or community. The nominee’s life reflects the characteristics of Catholic school education and how she illustrates this by her actions within family, school, parish and community. The selected recipient of the Distinguished Graduate award will be honored at a dinner held in January 2010. All nominations are due to the Alumnae Coordinator by October 26, 2009.
